Time really flies!!! I have been in school for 6 weeks. Sort of settled down to the routine, but I would still try my luck on some mornings by pretending to roll over and continue sleeping when Momi tries to wake me up. I would also refuse to wear the Kinderland uniform and insists on my home clothes. Well, it works sometimes cos my uniforms are not dry and Momi gotta let me wear home clothes. If not, Momi would either change my clothes while I am still asleep or coax me into the uniform by telling me that all my friends are wearing that to school and it would not be nice if I wear home clothes.
Talk about friends, I have made good progress in school. Momi is pleased that I have build up friendship with Lucas Gor-Gor and Nicholas Gor-Gor, who are both in the PN2 class because their birthdays fell on 24 Dec 04. I was only 3 weeks younger than them, but I got enrolled in the PN1 class. Hmmm, pros and cons lah. PN2 got more kids to play with, but they cannot drink milk before afternoon nap. PN1 has only 5 kids, but we get to enjoy our neh-neh cos we are considered the babies. :)
There are 4 boys in my class - Alexander, Shameer, Sean-Sean and me, and one girl-Esher. Esher is the baby as she is only 21 months old. Shameer and I are the Jan babies, while Sean and Alex are the Apr babies. My teachers are Ms Shikin, Ms Begum, Ms Chin and Zhang Lao Shi!!! We love our teachers as they will sing and play with us. Of course, I also make friends with the other Gor-Gors in PN2 class - Joven, Merald, Emmanuel etc. Yeah! School is such a fun place when there are friends to play with. But then hor, I prefers to spend time at home with Momi lah, cos I can terrorise her and play manja with her....
Momi and Dadi have also settled down to the routine. Dadi would try to take the morning train ride with us before he drops off at Doby Ghaut to catch the north-bound train. Momi figured out the best way to send me to school. On good sunny mornings, I get to ride my pram. On wet, gloomy days, I get carried or swaddled into the sarong sling cos it would be easier for Momi to manage the umbrella while she carries me. My schoolbag and bottle goes into her big tote bag or the haversack so that she could carry me. I am a little lazy bummer cos I would insist to be carried during the trips to and forth school. As Momi is also rushing for time, she would not haggle with me for not walking. She would simply pluck me up and whisk me off to school.
After school is another challenge for me. Yes, I want my dinner!!! For the first 3 weeks, Momi was always rushing to get me home before 7.30pm for my shower and (takeaway) dinner. But I was too hungry and would cry and fuss during shower. Ultimately, Momi decided not to give a hoot about Nai Nai's comments about my late shower. She would give me my dinner first, then my shower so long it is before 9.30pm. Of course, I also fussed when I was on the way home in the train. I would ask for food and I would scream and cry if I do not get it. Momi came up with the strategy to feed me at the childcare centre before we leave to take the train ride. It has been built into my routine and I would always ask for food when Momi comes to pick me up. It could be like bread, buns, crossants, biscuits or kueh bolu. Some little snack for me to tahan the train ride back home or to Gong Gong's house for dinner.
It has been a trying period for all of us to settle into the new routine and a new environment for me, but we are finally settling down.
