My First Day in School

Things happened swiftly in the past few days and "PHAT!!!". I landed myself in school mid week on 21 March. Momi supposedly took 3 days leave to help me settle down in the new environment, but she would quietly sneaked back to her office to clear her work. Yah, her office is just upstairs in the same building as my school. :p

I am now a kinderland kid. Uniform is a white top and green bottoms - t-shirt and shorts for morning and long-sleeved shirt and long pants for afternoon during nap time. I have a cubby hole and a container to hold my personal belongings.

The moment I stepped into the centre, I settled down quickly as there were so many new friends and toys to play with. Of course, with Momi beside me, I am not scared of anything. Momi was secretly very pleased with the way I took to the new environment and was keeping her fingers crossed that I would stay that way for the next few days.

I was not shy at all. I helped myself to the toys and even snatched the toys from other kids. Momi was horrified with my roguish behaviour, but the teachers assured her that I was displaying the usual social behaviour as kids of my age do independent play. Hiak Hiak!!!

That's me. Sitting in a corner in the PN2 class after lunch. I refused to nap while the other kids were napping in the music room. That's Momi, but her face was blocked by the paper plate. This picture reveals Dadi's fantastic photography skills.... Tsk tsk tsk....

My PN1 classroom. My mattress is on the floor but I am too excited to sleep. Momi tried to coax me to sleep but I told her "Let's go out and play!!!". Momi said "No" and I simply told her "I go play myself" and scrambled out of the mattress. :p

My plastic container bearing my name. It stores my toothbrush and toothpaste, pillow, bolster and extra set of clothes. Diapers are placed next to it. BTW, teachers feedback to Momi that my diapers are too big, always hanging loose, ma-chiam going to drop off. I was always lifting my diapers and pants along the way cos they were hanging to low and the top of my butt is shown to the entire world.... (shy shy leh....) Lazy Momi told the teachers "never mind, make do with it". Tsk Tsk.

My chubby hole and my orange Bob Dog schoolbag (Christmas gift from Auntie Shu'Ai)

That's me in my Elmo pyjamas. Kinderland long-sleeved uniform not purchased yet. I was allowed to wear my home clothes. I was holding a plastic banana in my hand.

Climbing up and down... very active. Not sleepy at all. Or, too excited to sleep?

Muahaha!!!! At the end of the day, I was totally bushed out. I slept during the entire MRT ride and during the walk home. Here's a picture of the little piggy snoozing at the end of his first day at school.

Do stay tuned for more updates on my adventures in school. Bye!!!

Fun Time Reading

For a period of time, I was browsing my fave pictorial books, looking for pictures of cake, milk, ice-cream, ball and bus. I was also enchanted with "Snappy Little Splashers" cos it has my favourite pictures of Mr Whale, Jellyfish, Turtle and Mr Anglerfish. Recently, my current storybook is "Little Quack". It is a story about Mama Duck teaching its five little ducklings to swim. I will flip the pages and make up the story myself. My fave duckling is the biggest and brown duckling with five feathers sticking out on his head. Momi called him "Ugly Duckling" and I called him "Uncle". I like to flip to the pages where "Uncle" jumps into the water for his first swim. I also love Mama Duck. Whenever she appears on the page, I would sayang her with my hand and then find Momi to give her a good hug. When I don't see Mama Duck appearing in the pages, I would make up stories about Mama Duck going to the market to do her shopping and I will rattle on about the things that she would buy... qing cai (green veggies), broccoli, corn, carrot, kup kup (pickled vegetable), Yan Yan biscuits etc (basically things that I like to eat).

Ah Wang

Got another DAH hair job on Sunday again. Momi gave instructions to Mr Raymond Scissorshands not to give the botak haircut, just to trim the hair at the sides and back of the head. Mr Scissorshands just let his hair clipper flew all over my head. He really clipped the hair short at the those target areas but a bit too high. Momi commented that I looked like "Ah Wang" with my hair like that and told Dadi to proceed to give me the botak look, rather then get laughed at by people due to the "Ah Wang" look. Muahaha!!! I picked up "Ah Wang" from Momi and went around repeating that. When she asked me for my name, I told her "AH WANG"!!! No more "BANANA".... Momi's face was like this -_-... (with cold sweat at the forehead)... Hahaha!!!

My name is ......

As all of you know, my name is Ramerez (pronounce as RER-MI-REZ). Such a difficult name to pronounce and I certainly have problems pronouncing it as Momi and Dadi have been calling me "Boy Boy" or "Darling" all this while, while the grandparents call me "Jieming" or "Ming Ming". So, whenever people prompt me "What's your name?", I would reply "Ming Ming" or "Boy Boy". However, as I am going to school soon, Momi has been trying to teach me to pronounce "Ramerez". Three syllabus, so difficult to pronounce. That night, while Momi and I went for our stroll after dinner, Momi asked me the question again and I told her my name was "BANANA". Three syllabus and sounded close to "RAMEREZ" (Well, at least to me lah!!!). Momi kept correcting me and I kept repeating "BANANA", much to her exasperation... Muahaha!!! In the end, Notti Momi took advantage of the fun part and decided to name herself after a fruit too. She became "APPLE" and Dadi became "LEW LIAN" (durian). Hahaha!!! Not a wise move cos I registered that clearly and I went around telling people that my name is "BANANA", Momi is "APPLE" and Dadi is "LEW LIAN". We became the FRUIT family. Haha!!!

Day out on 8th March 2007

It is Momi's birthday today. Both Dadi and Momi took the day off, not to celebrate her birthday, but to bring me to NUH for my medical appointment. Final verdict from Dr Ganga? Surgery strongly recommended. Momi and Dadi were reluctant to give the consent on the spot. Think they want to get a 2nd opinion...

Anyway, after the appointment, Dadi and Momi brought me to Suntec City for the IT fair. Wow!!! That place was overwhelmed with people. It appeared as though all the IT products are ma-chiam free for all. I saw people lugging bulky PS3, desktops, notebooks and printers... Dadi wanted to get a notebook cos he gave away our Desktop to DJJ. Momi managed to convince him otherwise cos they hardly use the PC or internet. It would not worth the $$$ as it would be under-utilised.

Haha!!! Whatever $$$ saved from the intended purchase was channelled to a super-duper cool metallic grey and yellow Hush Puppies windbreaker for me. Momi was commenting that it was her birthday but she ended up buying present for other people instead... (Momi bought Dadi a Brun Buffel wallet a week ago....) Momi was also hunting for a handphone for Po Po that day, but she had problem subscribing her 3rd corporate line.

More photos taken at Bottle Tree Park

That's moi relak relak in the wooden chair in the pavillion. Do I look like a little Ah-Beng?

Our family portrait (excluding Dadi cos he was behind the camera)

Po Po and I taking a leisure stroll holding hands.

Notti Momi and I captured in a candid shot. It looked like I was "ah-bishing" her in the face. Muahahaha!!!

Lucas Gor-Gor stays near the Bottle Tree Park... well, at least until he moves to his new house in Hougang. Think the mummies would be jio-ing everyone to go there for a fun-filled day. I can't wait.

Scenic Bottle-Tree Park

It was Gong Gong's 60th birthday and we decided to celebrate in advance on the 14th day of CNY by fixing a lunch at Bottle-Tree Park. Momi recommended the place so that Gong Gong and Po Po could go out gai-gai and take in some fresh air and scenary. She had earlier reccee that place for a corporate event and thought it was an interesting place for both adults and kids, esp the fish pond for kids to waddle and catch their own long-kang fish and the prawning pond.

Check out the scenary below first.

Cheeky pose with DJJ

Riding the giant frog with DJJ

Hugging the huge bottle-tree with help from DJJ

The silly adults trying to hug the bottle-tree. Final verdict? It takes four adults holding hands to form a circle around the tree. Yeah, the trunk was that fat. Me? I just kay-poh and tried to koi-soi with the adults lor.

Running on the pavement.

Riding the buffalo.

Posing in the antique buffalo carriage.

Decided to squat and pretend to erh-erh in the carriage. See the disgusted look on Momi's face.

School Days Postponed

I was originally scheduled to start school on 2 Feb 07, before CNY cos Momi wanted me to partake in the school's CNY celebrations. However, I was sick since the day before my birthday... so, boh-bian.... Momi and Dadi decided to postpone my enrolment to 1 May 07 so that I could get all the necessary jabs, esp pneumoccocal, before school starts.

A big sorry to Nicolas and Lucas Gor-Gors cos I am not able to join them in class earlier. Anyway, their mommies told my Momi that there was an outbreak of HFMD in the childcare centre. About 5 kids kena already, including Lucas Gor-gor. Momi thought it would be wiser to start school after HFMD cleared up.

Gong Xi Gong Xi

Hi, folks. Happy Lunar New Year. This is me, all dressed up in my new clothes and new shoes. I was carrying a pair of mandarin oranges and all already to go off to Ye Ye and Nai Nai's house to wish them "Gong Xi Fa Cai" on Day 1 and to collect my big fat ang pao.

Uncle Ewan and me posing for a picture. This is the best that Dadi could get from me... I was more interested in the CNY goodies displayed on the table...

Ye Ye, Nai Nai & me. Check out the bottles of goodies in front of me. Count the number of red lids. Those captured in picture are only half the number leh.

Momi tried to teach me to say complete "Gong Xi Fa Cai" in preparation for CNY, but I would only put my hands together to gesture "Gong Xi Gong Xi". The surprise came on the actual day of CNY when I pleased the adults by saying "Fa Cai, Fa Cai". That's what everyone wanted - a prosperous new year filled with plenty of money. Not mention, I also "Fa Cai" a bit cos I collected quite a substantial amount of ang pow money. Momi and Dadi were also nice enough to put their ang pow money in my bank account. What a prosperous OINK OINK year for me. :p

Happy New Year of the OINK!!!

Hi, folks!!! I had been out of action for the past 3 weeks cos I was sick, on and off down with high fever and flu since the day before my 2nd birthday until now. Still trying to recover from a cough.... hope it would not stop my bingeing during CNY cos I can eat almost everything now. Yums... can't wait to try the pineapple tarts and almond cookies. Bak Kwa??? Ermmm, meat is too tough and sweet for me. :p

Here's wishing everyone a happy and prosperous CNY of the pig. OINK OINK!!! Will upload my CNY pictures soon. Gong Xi Gong Xi!!!!

My Little House

Dadi does not believe in splurging/ investing in those Little Tykes or Playskool Play Houses which easily cost a bomb around $100++ to $300++. He said the money could be saved or invested in stuff which would reap more money for my trust fund. Anyway, Dadi was smart enough to play house with my by making use of my portable Superman travel mattress.

Basically, Dadi would wrap the mattress around me to form the wall. The space is big enough for me to even sit down inside. Of course, the house must be topped with a "roof" and I would tell Dadi to put a "Zhen Tou" (pillow) on the top. I would then keep quiet in my little "house", until I get bored and I would tear it down and crashing into the wall. The crashing part was my favourite. For the time being, it seems to fit me cos I am a small toddler. Not sure how long it can last cos I will outgrow it pretty soon. :p

Pretending... "Help me!!! An evil man has locked me in this little house!!!"

Here's a decent pose of me hiding in my little secret getaway where Momi and Dadi can't fit in cos they are too fat...oops... too big, I mean. *sheepish grin*

Haha!!! Dadi caught me digging for gold in my little house. Aiyah, I thought it would be safe to do something like that in my little safe haven mah... Hey, Momi!!! U can always censor and not post such pictures mah.... tsk tsk....

I am 2 years old!!!

Hi, folks!!! I have turned 2 on 19 Jan!!! Applause please! *Clap clap*

Well, nothing happened on 19 Jan. No birthday celebration, no cake to cut. In fact, I came down with a high fever from 18 Jan afternoon and it persisted over the next two days. I was fussy as usual, refusing to take the medicine and throwing up everything after the medicine is forced into my mouth... tsk tsk. Poor Momi and Dadi took turns to look after me. I am still having a cough and a bit of temperature...

No adventures over the last weekend. Will update when I have new stuff to upload. Just stay tuned to my blog, ok? Cheerios!!!

Star Wars Vs Journey to the West?!?!

Yah!!!! Fooling around with Dad's roll of telt. I was twirling it and swinging it around, trying to show my martial powess with my make-believe pole/stick. Do I look like Sun Wukong from the Journey to the West?

Swinging the telt over my head to whack whatever's in front of me. Now, I look like Skywalker from Star Wars, brandishing my Light Sabre. Keke!!!

Ermmm... if u folks look carefully at the outer corner of my right eye, you will see that I have a spot of pinkish-blue eye shadow there... Well, I conked against the bed frame in the dark and kena that. Sigh, let's not talk about it cos Dadi and Momi will heart pain again. It was a rush to the hospital and 2 X-rays that revealed no fractures that settled the fear and worry in their hearts.

Hear Ye!!! Hear Ye!!! I'm Going to School!!!

Yes!!! It is confirmed!!! I would be going to school on 1 Feb 2007!!!
The childcare centre is located right in Momi’s office building. That means Momi, Dadi and I could go out together in the morning and go home together again in the evening.

Momi decided to enroll me since I am getting quite a handful at home and Nai Nai needs a break after taking care of me for almost 2 years. It would be a great opportunity for me to make friends in school, learn to socialize and share things and to pick up some knowledge (esp language wise as I am still baby-talking… paiseh… paiseh…)

Dadi, Momi and Nai Nai accompanied me to check out the centre last Friday morning. It was cold and wet but it did not dampen my spirits and excitement. In fact, Momi reminded me about the orientation visit on Thur night before I slept and I was so excited that I woke up as early as 4am plus before Momi coaxed me back to bed again. Haha!!! When I next woke up at 8am, I opened my eyes, grinned at Momi and said “RT!!! Xue Xiao!!!” (meaning “MRT and School!!!”). Yah!!! I was that excited.

When we reached the school, Auntie Susan showed us the facilities around. I love my classroom with those short short tables and chairs for little kids like me. I not shy one because I made myself at home and started helping myself to the things in the room. I protested when the adults told me to go out of the classroom to check out the play area. Ultimately, Dadi gotta pluck me off the ground and wrestle with me to get me to the play area.

The play area was paradise!!! Lots of toys, balls, slides and Chinese New Year ornaments hanging down from the ceiling!!! Yeah!!! The red lion dancing overhead certainly caught my eyes. Soon, I was mingling with all the Gor-Gors and 1 Jie-Jie to play in the ball pool and masak masak in the kitchenette.

Towards the end of the ½ hour free play session, I also chipped in to help the Gor-Gors and Jie-Jie clear up the place and put away the toys when the teachers told us time to clear up. As we need to go back to the classroom quietly and not disturb the other classes, the teachers told us to crawl on our hands and knees and be as quiet as a mouse!!! So funny!!! I quickly went down on my hands and knees and started crawling with the other kids cos I wanted to join them in class. But… before I could even get passed the gate, Dadi plucked me up again and declared that orientation visit had come to an end!!! Shots!!! What a disappointment!!!

Anyway, Dadi and Nai Nai had no objections to my enrolment and they did not find any fault with the centre. Thus, Momi proceeded to enroll me after the orientation tour!!! Yeah!!! I would be starting on 1 Feb 2007 with 2 other new kids in the 2005 toddlers’ class. I heard one of the kid is a local and the other is a Japanese!!! On top of that, Nicolas Gor-Gor and Lucas Gor-Gor are also in the 2004 Toddlers Class and we can play with each other everyday!!! Yipee!!!

U folks stayed tuned for my adventures in school, ok? Cheerios!!!!

U folks can tell from my smiley face that I am very pleased with my new school lah.

Good Bye, Lao Gong

My Lao Gong passed away on 27 Nov. According to Momi, he left us quietly and in peace while he was sleeping. When I finally get to visit him that day at Lao Ma's house, he was already sleeping in a rectangular box. I will miss you, Lao Gong. Momi said I will not get to sing any birthday songs for you again.

DAH Haircut Again

Yep Yep, it is DAH (Do-At-Home) Haircut Day again.

After so many rounds of DAH haircuts, Momi and Dadi are getting better and faster. This time round, I was placed in a tub filled with water and toys to play with and a small towel was tied around my neck to keep the hair from tickling me. Dadi got my spikey hair trimmed down to less than 1 cm length in around 15 mins. Of course, I started to protest towards the last few minutes cos my hair was floating on the water surface and it was not fun to fish for my toys among that amount of hair.

Of course, Dadi couldn't trim the hair behind the ears and at the nape and Momi took charge when I was snoozing in the afternoon. But silly Momi hor, when she was trimming my hair, she also accidentally made a small cut on the bed sheet. Tsk tsk... What to do? She got to mend the hole before throwing the bedsheet into the washer lor.

Anyway, I have to commend Dadi and Momi for getting better with DAH hair jobs. Maybe I could give them a Ramerez Commendation Award? What do u think?

More Shots Taken at the Istana

Standing in front of the Victoria-style water fountain, taking in the view and trying to wash my hands in the fountain despite Momi's intervention.

Hahaha!!! I'm so happy like a bird!!! Look at that gleeful face.

Having a go on the swing. Wish I could bring the whole swing home....tsk tsk...

Dadi & Momi, thanks for bringing me to the Istana. It was great fun. Can we go again the next Public Holiday Open House??? Pleeeeeease???? *Act cute look*

Acting Cute at Istana

Yeap!!! That's us acting cute, alright... in the Istana somemore... keke!!!

Acting cute in the pram while walking out of the Istana compound. Dadi couldn't resist squashing my cheeks for a candid shot. Hiaz....

At the Istana on Hari Raya Haji

Running around at the vast open area in the Istana. I had no radar and just ran amok cos I hardly get such vast, open spaces (Yah! I very sua-ku one). Momi had to keep up with me while I ran. Great workout for her though.

The children playground is one of my favourite place and I spent the longest time there. Momi and Dadi had to put me on top of the slide as I am too lazy to climb up on my own. I love the slide down cos it was steep and fast!!! Whoosh!!!

Happy New Year!!!

Hi, folks!!! Happy Happy New Year, Everyone!!!

To usher in the new year, Momi and Dadi decided to pamper themselves at a Spa. Dadi went for a Swedish body massage while Momi opted for a facial. Naturally, the two of them took turns to look after me while they waited for the pampering sessions. As usual, I jalan jalan around Takashimaya again. Momi wanted to get a pair of long pants and a pair of shoes for me for CNY, but nothing caught her eyes and she did not buy anything on impulse this time!!!

Taka was so crowded on New Year's Day and there was no place for Momi to sit down and la-kopi. Momi could only hang around and checked out the desserts displayed outside the Japanese restaurant at Taka basement. She promptedly decided that our dinner would be there so that she could have those yummy desserts.

Dinner was pretty good cos I love the sticky Japanese rice and the QQ ramen. As usual, I turned my charms on the female diners and waitresses in the restaurant and I even got a star-shaped jelly candy from one of the waitresses. Hiak hiak!!!

After dinner, Momi and Dadi went to Kinokuniya to get books as there was a storewide 20% discount. I was un-cooperative and refused to stay in the pram cos I had poo-poo in my diapers. Dadi and Momi had to rush me to the diaper-changing room in B2 to clean me. When we got there, the place was super-crowded. There were 5 adults tending to a BB who had puked and they were trying to clean the howling BB. I saw her kodomo powder and happily helped myself to it. Momi snatched it away and returned to the BB's Mommy. Momi said that was not my powder and gave me my bottle of Johnson BB powder to hold while she and Dadi stripped off my soiled diaper. Soon, another BB came in with her parents to change diapers too. The whole changing room was filled with the sounds of howling babies and nagging parents... such a headache....

By the time we got the books, it was 8.30pm. Yawn yawn... It was time to go home and orh-orh liao. That concluded my celebration on New Year's Day. Ta-ta!!!
